Certification requires several years of experience designing and installing residential kitchens. Certification as a kitchen designer requires seven years of experience in kitchen design and passing a challenging exam that tests mastery in all aspects of the profession. The examination is conducted by the Society of Certified Kitchen and Bath Designers, the licensing agency of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
